Online coverage in rural Kenya is rapidly increasing with most people in rural areas using smart phones. This is made possible by wide network coverage that covers a large part of the country and fast internet services of 3G and 4G available. However, internet access and affordability of data packages remain the biggest challenge for people in rural areas. Another hindrance would be the unavailability of power supply in rural areas making it difficult to power electronic devices. A major stride towards online coverage in rural Kenya would be the laying of fiber optic cables from major towns to rural areas.
